What is a mutual fund?
A mutual fund is a financial vehicle that allows a group of investors to pool their money together with a predetermined investment objective. The mutual fund has a manager who is responsible for investing the pooled money into specific securities such as stocks or bonds. By pooling money together, investors can purchase securities with much lower trading costs than if they were to purchase the securities individually. Investors of a mutual fund are shareholders of the fund.
